Probably been 2 or 3 years. I still have old tracks and screenshots from back then that I'll watch now and then. Fortunately I would sometimes take a screenshot of the "S" page so that can match up players, like Nodak flying as "Supergreg".
Anyway, after being "modless" for quite a while I downloaded UP3/RC4 and went on Spits vs 109s, was pretty fun. I've been flying quite a bit off-line of late so I'm not as rusty as I was a few months ago. Managed to actually shoot someone down (and got shot down in turn). After another unevently mission/sortie in which I spotted no enemies and *almost* ran out of gas in an 190A-9, I took up a Hs-129 on the Kursk map, got about 3/4 of the way to the front I got jumped by an La-5. Fortunately his gunnery wasn't great and he just shot up my left wing a bit. I ditched my bombs and turned into him, he made another pass and collided with my right wing, damaging my engine. I was getting a little jumpy by that point, but then I got the "enemy aircraft destroyed" message. Apparently he broke his wing off in the collision. Hs-129 is a pretty tough plane, tee hee. Then the right engine conked out. I finally remembered the feather command and feathered the prop. OK so far. I then get the "engine on fire" message. Oh, shit, does this thing have extinguishers? I think so, so frantically try to remember the command and stumble on it, I have the "feather" and "extinguisher" both mapped to variations on "f" key. Great, the fire goes out. Now the Hs-129 will fly on 1 engine, but just barely. I struggle back to Orel and the Gnome-Rhone keeps on ticking, all 800 horses struggling to keep the plane up, but I manage to land the plane in one piece. No ground targets destroyed, but a collision kill and an RTB, works for me!
